Workflow B: Existing Tower Audit
Goal: Model an existing tower to verify current structural capacity.
Process Flow
Input as-built geometry ──> Match existing sections ──> Model current assets ──> Analyze ──> Report
When to Use This Workflow
- A TowerCo needs to verify capacity of an acquired tower
- A tower needs re-certification after modification
- You need to assess remaining capacity for new tenants
- Regulatory compliance requires updated structural analysis
Tips for Accurate Modeling
Important
The accuracy of your analysis depends entirely on the accuracy of your model. Take extra care with as-built data.
- Match section profiles exactly to as-built drawings — use the closest profile in the library
- Include ALL existing appurtenances — missing antennas, cables, or ladders will underestimate loading and overestimate remaining capacity
- Verify exposure category against actual site conditions, not just the original design assumptions
- Compare results against any existing analysis reports for validation before issuing a new report
- Document assumptions — note where as-built data was unclear or estimated
Output
After analysis, you'll have:
- Unity check ratios for all members under current loading
- EPA breakdown per section showing wind area contributors
- BOM with actual tower weight
- Base reactions for foundation assessment
- Shareable link for client or regulatory review
