Known Limitations
Current Limitations
| Limitation | Status | Workaround |
|---|---|---|
| Guyed towers | Planned | Model as SST with conservative assumptions |
| Monopoles | Planned | — |
| Seismic loads (ELF method) | Planned | Manual seismic analysis per TIA-222-H Section 2.7 |
| P-Delta analysis | Planned | Linear analysis is conservative for most towers < 60m |
| Custom profiles | In development | Use closest available library profile |
| Compound members (2L, star) | In development | Use equivalent single section |
| Connection design | Not planned for v1 | Use standard connection details per industry practice |
| Foundation design | Not planned for v1 | Use base reactions for external foundation design |
| Guy wire modeling | Planned | Model as SST; guy reactions as applied loads |
Tower Size Limits
| Parameter | Current Limit |
|---|---|
| Maximum height | 200m |
| Maximum sections | 70 |
| Maximum antennas | 50 per tower |
| Maximum mounts | 30 per tower |
These limits ensure reliable performance. Contact us if your project requires higher limits.
Analysis Assumptions
- Leg members are continuous (moment-carrying frame elements)
- Bracing, horizontals, and redundants are pinned (truss behavior — no moment transfer)
- Base supports are fixed (all 6 DOF restrained)
- Material is linear elastic (no yielding or plasticity)
- Loading is static (no dynamic or fatigue analysis)
- Self-weight is calculated from profile properties and steel density (7,850 kg/m³)
Engineering Disclaimer
TowerPlot is a structural analysis design aid for qualified engineers. Analysis results are based on the inputs provided and the assumptions listed above. Results should be independently verified by the Engineer of Record before being used for construction, permitting, or regulatory compliance. See our Terms of Service for full details.
