Bill of Materials
The BOM tab provides weight breakdown per section and member family.
Columns
| Column | Description | Unit |
|---|---|---|
| Section | Section number | — |
| Legs | Total weight of leg members | kg |
| Diagonals | Total weight of diagonal members | kg |
| Horizontals | Total weight of horizontal members | kg |
| Section Total | Sum for that section | kg |
| Tower Total | Sum of all sections | kg |
Calculation
Weights are calculated from profile properties:
Member weight = Area × Length × Steel Density
Steel Density = 7,850 kg/m³
What to Look For
- Bottom sections are heaviest — they have the widest base and largest profiles
- Legs typically account for 50–70% of total weight
- Compare against industry benchmarks:
- Light tower: 15–25 kg/m of height
- Medium tower: 25–50 kg/m
- Heavy tower: 50–100+ kg/m
The BOM is essential for cost estimation, transportation planning, and procurement.
